Arrival in Addis Ababa, transfer to the hotel and you’ll have time for a city tour.
DAY 2
Scenic drive to Guassa plateau where you will see the endemic Ethiopian Wolf, Gelada baboons and some interesting birdlife. Camping
DAY 3
Another scenic drive to Weldia passing through some of the breathtaking views of the central plateaus.
DAY 4
Morning drive to Lalibela and afternoon start exporing the famous rock-hewn churches.
DAY 5
Morning mule excursion to Asheten Maryam church and afternoon visit the rest of the Lalibela churches.
DAY 6
Scenic drive north to Mekele, capital of the northern region.
DAY 7
Early morning departure for your trip to the Danakil depression. Camping/basic nomad house at Hamed Ela.
DAY 8
Morning excursion to Dallol hill where you will see the colorful surface covered by different minerals and the volcanic chimneys. Afternoon visit the traditional salt mining and camel caravans.
DAY 9
Drive south to the foot of Ert Ale and afternoon start your 3hrs trek to Ert Ale volcano. Basic camping.
DAY 10
Morning trek back to the cars and drive out of the Danakil depression through Erebti to Mekele.
DAY 11
End of the trip and departure depending on flight times.

The Danakil Depression formed from the continental drift of the African and Asian tectonic plates. As the plates drifted apart at a rate of 1-2 cm per year, they leave behind a geological depression, known as the Danakil Depression (or Afar Depression) and a must see place.
